Alexandra Castro is an Invited Assistant at the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Porto, where she lectures “Geometry and Architecture”.
She is a graduate in Architecture (FAUP, 2002) and holds a master’s degree in “Methodologies of Intervention in the Architectonic Heritage” (FAUP, 2009).
Currently, she is developing her PhD research, which is focused on the relationship between geometry and contemporary architecture from the perspective of the impact that digital tools have on design practice. The work of Herzog & de Meuron is taken in her PhD as the central case study.
In 2013, she joined the Centre for Studies in Architecture and Urbanism of FAUP as a researcher, where she is investigating geometry, digital modelling, architectural representation and design practice.
In 2010 she founded, together with Nicola Natali, the architecture office Castro Natali, based in Porto.
