Open Class Architectural Design and Digital Tecnhology | PDA
'A Chronicle of Climate Change: Crafting Biodiverse-Decarbonized-Healthy Architectures' with Emanuel Naboni

14th June 2024, 9h00-10h30, online

This open class is presented in the framework of the curricular unit Architecture, Project and Digital Technology and will be held online (zoom), with reserved access to the FAUP's academic community.

In this open class, we discuss crafting biodiverse, decarbonized, and healthy architectures as a response to climate change. We emphasize the role of design in driving adaptation, via interventions from urban planning to architectural detailing. Featuring international case studies from the Middle East, Europe, the US, and China—where Emanuele Naboni has consulted—we showcase the application of scientific and research-based strategies.

Emanuele Naboni is a technologist in the field of regenerative architecture and urban design. He has held professorships at the Norman Foster Institute, in collaboration with MIT Media Lab, EPFL, ETH Singapore, Royal Danish Academy, UC Berkeley, UNSW Sydney. Naboni's international teaching experience includes invitations to lecture at over 110 universities globally, such as TU Delft, Aalto University, and the University of Oxford. He worked with NASA and BIG, Atkins Realis and had post-doctoral work at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He led the "Performance Design Studio" at Skidmore, Owings and Merrill LLP in San Francisco. Naboni advises on climate change strategies for the European Commission and serves as an advisor for the World Health Organization.
