Objectives

1.To interpret through critical understanding the major issues of aesthetics of sport.
2.To understand and develop an aesthetic attitude which facilitates access to aesthetic experience, as well as its reflection and analysis.
3.To recognize that the Aesthetics of Sport is featured by the dialectic presence of objective requirements (aesthetic qualities) and subjective requirements (aesthetic attitude).
4.To understand the significance of aesthetic sporting body.
5.To enhance visual and conceptual imagination and to interpret critically the polysemy of sporting images.
6.To identify and understand the presence of sport in art and develop the taste for its enjoyment.

Learning outcomes and competences

It is established that at the end of the semester students have acquired competence in implementation and communication of specific knowledge of the course of Aesthetics of Sport.

Teaching methods and learning activities

The classes are developed using the methods according to nature and specificity of the contents. The following forms are used: expository, seminar, themes’ presentation, discussions and group work.
In what concerns means, it is preferred the use of technologies of information and communication, not neglecting, however, traditional features such as audio, video, photography and the printing ones (books and periodicals).

Eligibility for exams

Attendance at 75% of classes taught. Participation in class and acomplishment of tasks given to students.

Calculation formula of final grade

It is required a committed, diligent and punctual participation in class, also as the presence in at least 75% of classes taught.
Production of two works (group work).
Final grade: Simple average of the classification of works (minimum grade of 9.5 in each study).
