Objectives

This curricular unity is semestral and is included in the second year of the Sport Sciences graduation course. The 8 hours of the weekly time-table is distributed as follows: Theoretical lessons: 2 hours; Practical lessons: 3+3 hours.
General aim: develop competences as a coach. With these purpose and under the supervision of a professor from FADEUP, the student must apply to training and competition practices the knowledge previously acquired.
Specific aims:
- to understand soccer, in a general perspective, as a high level sport;
- to develop the knowledge about the Training Theory applied to soccer, analyzing different levels of soccer participation;
- to purpose models of soccer coaching based in the recent knowledge of Sport Training and other scientific areas;
- to analyze different research fields of soccer.

2. Chronological analysis of soccer: past, present and future.
3. Performance analysis in soccer.
4. Soccer training in youth.
5. Theory and methodology of soccer training.
6. Organization and management of the soccer season.
7. Analyzing Futsal.

Teaching methods and learning activities

The expositive method is used as well as seminar sessions in which the analysis and discussion of texts are performed.

Evaluation Type

Distributed evaluation without final exam

Eligibility for exams

In order to be approved in the curricular unity, the student might attend three requirements:

a) to attend at least 75% of the lessons completed.

b) to present and individual dossier with the work done during lessons.

c) to planify a training session.

Calculation formula of final grade

The students respond to a theoretical test in the final of the semester.

The final classification (FC) is calculated according to the formulae:


CF = (ID +PTS +2TT) /4

where, ID= individual dossier; PTS=plan of a training session; T=theoretical test.

The student might has a classification higher than 9.5 points (in scale between 0 and 20 points) in each component used for the calculation of final classification.

Examinations or Special Assignments

Special exams and assignments follow the evaluation general rules.

Classification improvement

When justified, the student could have a new opportunity to be evaluated in the components referred in "Calculation of final grade".
