Dr Ana Luísa Neves graduated from Faculty of Medicine of University of Porto and undertook training in Family Medicine at ARS Norte / ACES Gaia. She has a MSc on the pathophysiology of cardiovascular disease, and her current main research interest is cardiovascular disease. During her residency she also performed work as researcher (Union Square Family Health / Harvard Medical School Affiliate, Boston, August 2010; INSERM u695, Paris, 2010-2011; Department of Physiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery / Cardiovascular R&D Unit (Faculty of Medicine, University of Porto, Porto, 2011-2013).

Ana has published several papers on cardiovascular disease and its risk factors. She is also the liaison person between the European General Pratice Research Network and the Europe Working Group for Young General Practitioners.

During the last years, Ana was awarded with a MSc grant (INSERM, 2008), Support aid to international collaborations (Institut Franco-Portugais, 2008), Research Award Summer School Hypertension (Portuguese Society of Hypertension, 2009), Research Grant (Portuguese Society of Hypertension, 2011) and best article of 2012 (Patient Care journal, 2012).

Ana is also interested in patient education, empowerment and self-management of cardiovascular disease, and has volunteered with several NGOs as M.D. (AMI [Senegal, 2010], Medicos do Mundo [Guine-Bissau,2008], Casa Madre Maria Clara [Mocambique, 2012]).
