Where and how to request the U.PORTO Card

You should go in person to the branch office of Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD):
Procedure:
To request your UP/CGD Student Card you must bring with you:
- Identity Card;
- A printed copy of your enrolment form at ICBAS.
You can choose between two alternatives:
- UP/CGD card "with bank account" - CGD will give you a provisional card when you apply and you will then receive the definitive card at home;
- UP/CGD card "without bank account" - The definitive card will be delivered later at .
To facilitate the process, card with bank account, you must give U.PORTO your explicit consent so that they can send the extra data required by the CGD.
To do this you must:
- Login at www.icbas.up.pt;
- Go to your personal page (click on your name/photo in the top right-hand corner) and click on the menu U.PORTO Card (right-hand menu).
- Here you should click on the "Consent" button.
- On the form, tick the "Yes" box.
Once consent is given, the process may take a few minutes to update, so you should do this as soon as possible.
Intended users
The U.PORTO Card is intended for the
students of the University registered on the SIGARRA information system as "F" (Attending) students for periods exceeding 3 months.
The U.PORTO Card is also intended for all
teachers, researchers, non-teaching staff and scholarship students of the University who are registered with a "A" (active) status on the SIGARRA information system. Note that the U.Porto Card is currently also intended for
other collaborators of the U.Porto who, despite not being workers or agents, have some sort of activity within the University normally for periods exceeding 3 months. As they, require access the institution’s resources and/or services, they are registered on the U.PORTO's information system (SIGARRA), receiving, for that purpose, a personal registration number.
It is a smart card integrating different contact and contactless technologies, which gathers several functionalities:
- It identifies you as a member of the U.Porto academic community;
- Allows access to internal services within the various organic units (library loans, access control, etc.);
- Access to other services provided by third parties, under special terms.
