Eligibility for exams
Attendance to classes is mandatory.
Calculation formula of final grade
The final mark (on a 0 to 20 points rating scale) is obtained through the following calculation:
- A final individual essay to be carried out in the last class (weighting 60 %)
- Classroom Work Assessment (Weighting 40%)
- Each practical class will include a prompt or challenge for students to work on and discuss in small groups. In the second part of the practical session, they will share their results with the larger group and engage in a collective discussion. Students will be assessed based on both group work and individual performance (20%).
- In each class, one group will act as the rapporteur and will be responsible for preparing a summary of the topic/question discussed and, when applicable, the conclusions reached. This summary must be written and submitted to both professors by the end of the respective week (20%).
The student must obtain a minimum of 8 points in each evaluation component. To complete the course, the student must achieve a minimum final grade of 10 points.
Examinations or Special Assignments
There are no exams or special assignments.
Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)
According to the faculty's regulations, students with specific statutes will be evaluated by completing an individual written assignment that replaces the group work completed by the other students for the assessment of the practical component (worth 40% of the final grade). The individual essay is mandatory (worth 60% of the final grade).
Observations
The course will be taught mainly in Portuguese. The indication of the working language as "Portuguese - suitable for English-speaking students" is based on the provision of some slides and bibliography in English and some classes or parts of them taught in English.
