Objectives

Knowledge:

The knowledge refer to those that underlie the study of processes and possibilities of research in art education, particularly those known as "arts-based research", aiming at:

-Assure an Epistemological-theoretical construction that sets professional being and acting and highlights manners of articulation between the action and critical reflection

Skills:

-Ability to read a given reality and elaborate a description about it that highlights aspects and salient outlines of the same

-Ability to transform identified problems into contextualized and articulated problematic

Learning outcomes and competences

Competencies:

-Draw up comprehensive presentation of the processes, procedures, results and open questions about the complexity of the professional acting in educational phenomenon

-Highlight the specific contribution of the internship and the report to the field of social and educational intervention and the professional component of teaching in the Visual Arts.

The access to the curricular unit is only allowed after de 1st year of the master in the terms established in its Regulation

Program

The contents vary according to the theme chosen by the student, depending on the context of training, focusing on research interests typically in image-related issues (image analysis, image power, ...) and with the Visual and audiovisual media (drawing, photography, cinema, video, etc.).

In this UC, which subscribes in the area of Didactics, the report describes, fundamentally, the job of professional approach and insertion in the context of teaching, but also a thematic component, whose work is the subject of deepening on internship situation.

The final report is individual and is presented and defended publicly before a jury, especially set up for that purpose.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Students prepare themselves to build a corpus organizing the report, highlighting, in particular, their internship experience, under the guidance of the designated teacher with the quality of report Advisor.

 

Type of evaluation: the evaluation of the report is of quantitative nature and it is the responsibility of a jury, pursuant to art. 12 and 13 of the regulations of the 2nd cycle of Studies in Visual Arts Education in the Third Cycle of Basic Education and in Secondary Education from the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences and the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto.

 

Frequency conditions: the curricular unit is organized in collective seminars throughout the first semester, seeking to maximize students ' sharing and monitoring of a varied team of teachers.

 

Assessment formula: the formula of assessment is given in article 14 of Regulation of the 2nd Cycle of Studies in Visual Arts Education in the Third Cycle of Basic Education and in Secondary Education from the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences and the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto.

Eligibility for exams

The student must attend the 48 hours of presential sessions taking place in the first semester, arranged in the form of seminar. The remaining hours are organized in conjunction with the Faculty Advisor bthroughout the school year

Calculation formula of final grade

The final ranking is assigned in the public act of Defense of the report by a jury according to the Masters' Regulation.
