Objectives

This CU – with a total of 90 ECTS distributed across the 2nd and 3rd year - aims at monitoring the implementation of the doctoral research work, providing the student the context for tutorial monitoring of his/her work by the supervisor, specifically with regard to the more practical aspects of the conduct of the doctoral project, as well as the preparation and writing of the doctoral thesis.

 

 

Learning outcomes and competences

It is expected that the doctoral students develop the practical aspects of their research: fieldwork with data collection, and data entry in order to further analysis of results. By the end of 3rd year, PhD students should have completed their doctoral thesis in accordance with the thesis regulation.

Presencial

Pre-requirements (prior knowledge) and co-requirements (common knowledge)

A minimal score of 14 values (out of 20) on the Project Seminar II is mandatory to register in the Thesis.

Program

The syllabus includes specific topics related with the implementation of the doctoral project, the methodological procedures inherent to the fieldwork, data entry and data analysis, and scientific writing format and techniques, specifically associated with writing a thesis.

Submission of the doctoral thesis to a public jury.

Calculation formula of final grade

The supervisor is responsible for the evaluation of the student. This should be based on an annual  report submitted by the doctoral student describing the development of his/her project. The supervisor shall address an evaluative report to the Scientific Committee on the progress of the student’s work. The submission of the doctoral thesis to a public jury is established in the rules of the PDP.
