Objectives

This course aims to: a) Understand the phenomenon of juvenile delinquency in the different dimensions of assessment and intervention; b) To characterize the different crime indicators and the specific issues of forensic assessment of juveniles; c) Analyze the foundations of the current juvenile justice systems and current practices in relation to criminal policies in the face of delinquency; d) To develop basic knowledge and skills in terms of the design and implementation of preventive and treatment interventions in juvenile delinquency.

It is intended that the student is able to understand the phenomenon of juvenile delinquency, as well as the different intervention dimensions that relate to it: prevention, treatment and reintegration. This UC also aims to promote the learning of the main concepts in the area of juvenile delinquency and the acquisition of intervention strategies in order to develop the skills necessary for its future action as a professional.

Characteristics and principles of efective prevention programs. Strategies associated with the implementation of efective preventive programs

 Emotional regulation strategies: principles and programs. Intervention in moral reasoning: principles and programs. Interventions based in the development of social skills.

Teaching methods and learning activities

The classes combine the exposure of the program contents with the discussion of the relevant scientific literature. Participatory methodologies based on the presentation of didactic videos on intervention strategies in delinquency and debates on the contents exposed from research conducted by students will be used.

Eligibility for exams

The attendence to classes is not mandatory.

Calculation formula of final grade

The final mark (in a 0 to 20 points rating scale) is obtained through the following calculation:
- Two exams (70% weighing). These exams will take place during the semester according to a schedule to be fixed. In each of the exams the student  must obtain a minimum score of 8 points.
- Work group (30% weighing). Consists of a group work to be developed during the semester  and presented in one of the classes on a subject within the focus of the classes. 
In each of the evaluation components, the student must obtain a minimum score of 8 points. For successfully completing the course, students must achieve a final mark of 10.

Examinations or Special Assignments

Do not exist.

Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)

In accordance with the regulations of the Faculty, students with specific statutes will be evaluated by the completion of an individual written work replacing the group work done by other students for evaluation of the practical component (25% of the final grade) and undertaking an oral or written exam on what is taught in the course replacing the final exam (75% of final grade). 

Classification improvement

The attemp to improve the final result will be possible by repeating once the final exam in the subsequent season to that when approval was reached and whenever the UC has exam scheduled. The improvement will only be appliable to 75% of the mark refering to the final exam.
