Objectives

 



This UC aims to provide students with knowledge and competences that allow them to:

 

(i) comprehend and explain the dynamics of the illness process in different psychopathological conditions that affect adults and the elderly

(ii) based on the phenomenological and existential perspective, be able to develop a critical look at different systems of classification of disorders

(iii) be able to make a differential diagnosis between different nosological entities and,

(iv) finally, to be aware of the different paths, life trajectories and living conditions of each person seen as a Total Man.

Learning outcomes and competences

In this CU, we expect students to be able to: 

 



  1. analyze the individual in his singularity and in a phenomenological perspective;

  2. understand the relationship between psychopathology and psychology and other sciences;

  3. understand the dynamics of becoming ill in psychopathology;

  4. have a global and critical view of the different classification systems for the diagnosis of mental disorders;

  5. understand and make a differential diagnosis between different clinical conditions;

  6. understand the genesis of disturbances and the developmental processes involved.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Exposition by teachers; discussion about clinical situations in practical classes: reading bibliography texts, watching movies.
In practical classes, students discussed clinical cases presented by Psichologists from the Unidade de Psicoterapia de Jovens, Adultos e Idosos da FPCE.
