Objectives
This curricular unit focus interpersonal communication, refering to people involved on communication processes of communication giving rise, maintaining and giving up human relationships. Its development is informed by Psychology, Social Psychology, Psychosociology and the Sociology of the actor.
Training objectives are as follows:
- to improve the understanding of the role of interpersonal communication on social action and research;
- to foster abilities to analyse situations of interpersonal communication;
- to give room to the developement of communication competences relevant to mediation processes
- to improve students social and personal development
Learning outcomes and competences
At the end of this UC it is hoped students to be able to:
Construct more elaborate cognitive frameworks for interpreting and analyzing communication situations and human relations
Use rationaly processes and techniques of communication
Describe the role of categorization in social perception phenomena
Identify the role of inter-experiment in the deconstruction of phenomena of social exclusion
Distinguish between different kinds of systems of relationship development
Describe conditions of rational conflict management
Recognize the interactive nature of social power
Describe the conditions of a helping relationship
Describe the characteristics of an intimate relationship
Identify phases of construction / structuring and desintegration of an intimate relationship
Describe the conditions of group decision making
Distinguish between types of leadership

Mediation of processes of social and educational intervention
Implementing intervention, research and training projects taking into account the role of communication

Students can fail 25% of the number of classes previewed .

Calculation formula of final grade
All the evaluation componentes will be marked in a 0-20 scale.
Final classification will result from:
-
- reading, presentation and discussion of a text from a selected list (involving individual and teamwork) (20%)
- group (40%) and individual (40%) work
Criteria of evaluation:
Group reading and presentation of a text:
- compliance with presentation time
- absence of errors or misunderstandings
- identification of the essential aspects of the text
- dynamics of presentation and debate
Individual and group work:
- absence of errors or misunderstandings
- identification of the essential aspects of the topi
- writing correction

Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)
Evaluation of students beneficiaries of the legal status of student workers and failing status consists of a final examen (60%) and in the writing (5 pages) of a critical analysis of one of the texts being analysed. Anyway, these students need to meet with the UC teachers at the beginning of the semester to clarify their evaluation modality. Evaluation of DA students will adjust to respective difficulties.
Classification improvement
Classification improvement can be done once, by examen.
This examen will take place in the same day that is previewed for the final examen.
