Objectives

The research seminar seeks to respond to the challenges of providing students contact with research produced in the field of education and training of adults, issues and theoretical perspectives presented there, as well as methodological approaches mobilized to enable the students to design and structure a project research leading to the dissertation. In this sense, the syllabus is particularly concerned to contribute to a thorough and comprehensive knowledge of the issues and current research trends in the field as well as the dynamics and methodological procedures that accompany them.

Learning outcomes and competences

- To expand and to deepen knowledge of issues and processes of research in the field of Adult Education and Training;

- To develop skills in the field of research dynamics (search and bibliographic analysis, scientific writing, design and development of research projects, research methodologies);

- To design research projects in the field of Adult  Education and Training

- To operationalize research processes about  Adults' Education and Training

Teaching methods and learning activities

In contact time : i ) presentation and discussion of research in the field of EFA ; ii ) presentation and discussion of theoretical and methodological issues related to EFA and research methodologies in the social sciences ; iii ) reading, analysis and discussion of bibliographic materials; iv ) discussion of the processes of design and construction of research projects prepared by students

At the time of autonomous work : i ) research, reading and analysis of scientific literature ; ii ) design of the research project to be developed ; iii ) participation in scientific events ; iv )  written productions about theoretical issues concerning the research projects and the basis of the methodological procedures to mobilize

Eligibility for exams

The assessment process requires that students must attend at least 75% of the sessions. Exceptions are those students legally exempt from class attendance.

Calculation formula of final grade

The assessment takes the form of a written work that reflects the research project to be undertaken by students , theoretically and methodologically supported with a 100% weighting in the final classification

Students legally authorised to not attending the sessions must deliver an individual essay (15 to 20 pages) and discuss it with the curricular unit teachers. This aims at assessing the achievement of the curricular unit competences and learning-outcomes.

 This essay aims to summarize and critically address the whole or part of the themes of the Curricular Unit

Classification improvement

To improve the final grade students must deliver a reformulated final assignment and discuss it with the teachers of the curricular unit.
