Objectives

Case studies. Analysis of social phenomena in light of current theory and research in Social Psychology

Learning outcomes and competences

Ability to develop a rationale about cases involving prejuddice aand discrimination, power and social conflict, or consumerism, in light of Social Psychology, and to propose theoretically grounded intervention strategies for these cases.

Case study: Anti-semistism and propaganda (based on the Nazi propaganda film "Der Ewige Jude")

Case study: Anti-semitism, victimization and social dominance (based in the Israeli documentary "Defamation")

Case study: Sexual orientation, prejudice and discrimination (based on the documentary "For the Bible tells me so")

Case study: The social consttruction of prejudice and discrimination (based on the documentary "Blue eyes").

Case study: Compliance, identification, and alienation in a religious groups (based on the documentary "Jonestown").

Case study: Impact of religious thinking on people's attitudes, beliefs, and values (based on the documentary "Religulous").

Case study: Power, manipulation, and consumerism (based on the documentaries "Surplus: Terrorized into being a consumer" and "The Shock Doctrine").
