Developing the skills of psychological assessment acquired at UC Psychological Assessment I. Understanding the relationship between personality theories and methodologies of psychological assessment. Their differences, complementarities and gradual integration. The theoretical rational of personality inventories, self-report scales and projective techniques or performance-based. The controversy about the differences in conceptualization and methodology. Skills of administration, scoring and interpretation of personality tests, including inventories and projective techniques. Developing skills of client relationship, mastering operational techniques and integrative conceptualization of the different results allowing an understanding of the client psychological situation and focus on change process potential.
Skills in psychological assessment:
- Develop evaluation strategies;
- Choosing the appropriate psychological tests;
- Analyze and integrate the results with the personal data.
Theories of personality and psychological assessment methodologies. The idiographic versus nomothetic perspective, clinical versus statistical, projective techniques or performance-based versus objective tests or instropective and self-report. The evolution of concepts and methodologies in an integrative perspective. - Theoretical rational of personality inventories; - Theoretical basis of projective techniques; - The response process in the Rorschach test and the value of perception and representation. - Methods of administration, scoring / codification and interpretation of tests: MMPI-2, Millon scales, ICAC, NEO-PI-R, Iaclide, Rorschach, TAT and CAT-A, H-CAT, SAT, PN, The Robert Apperception Test for Children's R. A. T. C., Once Upon a Time ... - Projective Test for Children, the Scale for Assessment of Vulnerability to Stress - 23 QVS, the Food Behavior Rating Scale - TFEQ, the Sexual Attitudes Scale - EAS, the Aggressive Behaviors Questionnaire – CSF, the Young-Rygh avoidance inventory -YRAI. - Case studies. - Critical reflection and evaluation of the teaching – learning process. The review and discussion of the theoretical concepts of models of personality and its link to psychological assessment methodologies will provide expertise to develop strategies psychological assessment and testing, as well as conceptualize and integrate the results and information from various sources in order to understand the psychological situation of the individual with their positive and negative aspects and to promote in future a process of change. The practical classes will focus on the methodological component of each instrument. The case studies should develop skills to conduct a full psychological assessment through the interrelation with the contents of the lectures.
- Content lectures by teacher and / or by students under the guidance of teaching staff. - Research, and review of literature in extra-time class. - Practical work on collecting and analyzing life narratives, administration, scoring and analyzing test results. Integration and conceptualization of all outcomes in the final assessment report. - Support tutorial. The explanation content in class will serve to guide and complement the students' work performed before each class. Lectures will give priority to critical approaches to the theories, the concepts and the controversies of psychological assessment and promote discussions with students, clarify questions and guide the study of topics for the following session. The practical classes will give priority to the acquisition of skills in the operationalization of psychological assessment by the contents exposition, the exercises and practical work with case studies.
