At the end of the semester students should be able to: Master the key concepts of development and communication and apply them to psychological practice with children. Apply communication techniques to establish an empathic non evaluative relationship with children .Apply communication techniques that facilitate children self-expression during an interview .Develop precise and simple open-ended questions, using language appropriated to the children developmental level .Conduct semi-structured interviews with children aiming the collection of information .Apply distancing strategies appropriated to the children level of proximal development .Reflect on the information gathered and interaction skills used during interactions with children, taking in consideration the theoretical perspectives on child development and on communication process.
1. Domain of the main concepts of communication that will support the intentionality in the construction of the relationship with the child, giving it the specificity and the quality required.
2. Skills interviews with children.
3. Competence in the use of joint activity of reading a book as a vehicle for stimulating the development of the child.
4. Integrating theoretical and practical knowledge about child development and their implications for assessment and intervention with children in different professional fields.
1. Theoretical models that frame conceptually the psychological practice with children 1.1. Theoretical perspectives of human development: bio-ecological, transactional and sociocultural 1.2. Theories of human communication. 2. Communication skills used in building a relationship with the child: Rogers attitudes and micro-skills. 3. Specific techniques for facilitating communication with the child. 4. Interviewing techniques with children: elaboration of questions. 5. Strategies for promoting development: scaffolding and distancing.

Students should be present in at least 75% of classes.
The final grade (o-20) is based on the following classification elements:
1. Elaboration of a written report (90%) which focuses on (a) conduction of a semi-structured interview with a child or adolescent with the aim of gathering information; (b) implementation of an interaction situation with children (joint reading of a child story book) in order to promote their development; (c) reflection on the work performed + 2. Participation in classroom activities, and individual exercises performed at home (10%).
Any situation involving a special assessment should be presented by students and reviewed by the professor at the beginning of the semester.
