This course aims to contribute to the training of psychologists in the area of parenting intervention.
At the end of the semester students should be able to:
1. Identify the dimensions of positive parenting and its impact on child and youth development
2. Define parent education according with the levels and modalities of parenting intervention
3. Identify the conceptual framework and the objectives of parent education
4. Identify typologies and modalities of parent education
5. Use strategies to promote positive parenting in the context of parent education
6. Discuss the adequacy of parenting interventions to the target groups
7. Identify methods and instruments for evaluating the effectiveness of parent education
8. Integrate the ethical and deontological principles underlying the practice of parent education
9. Know evidence based parent education programs and relevant research in this field.

4. Tutorial in groups of two students - the teacher guides the students’ reading and decoding of a research paper on parent education. This work is: a) presented orally to the class, followed by a debate b) delivered as written report.
5. Peer learning - students watch and discuss the papers presented by colleagues in the context of the classroom.

Students should be present in at least 75% of classes and performe the group project.
The final classification results from the weighted average of grades obtained in the following assignments:
1. Participation in training of strategies to promote positive parenting (25%)
2. Oral presentation and written assignment of the work performed by each group (30%)
3. Final exam (50%).
Not considered.
Any situation involving a special assessment should be presented by students and reviewed by professors at the beginning of the semester.
Only applicable to final exam.
