Objectives

This discipline aims the students to be able to:
- know the main events and theories occurred in the History of Psychology;
- collect, choose and interpret relevant information in the History of Psychology;
- know the main epistemological theories;
develop the capacity of critical analysis of texts written by some authors in the epistemological domain;
- apply epistemological theories to Psychology;
- use individual capacities to promote autonomic learning and critical thinking.

Program

1. History of Psychology: the movement from Philosophy to exact sciences; the independence of Psychology; the development of Psychology in different countries; the mains theories and domains in Psychology.
2. Epistemology: structure and development of science views from epistemological theories (reference to Comte, Bachelard, Popper, Kuhn and Foucault); reflect how to make scientific knowledge.
3. Applying Epistemology to History of Psychology: criticizing classical perspective of History; the historic perspective of the events; using Epistemology to think and criticize the psychological knowledge.

Eligibility for exams

The students must have the minimum of 9.5 points in 20 points. The student must participate individually in the discussion forum in Modle, representing 20% of the classification (they don't have a minimum classification). The student must do un wroten exam and obtain a minimum of 8 points in 20.

Calculation formula of final grade

The final classification is the sum of the fowling parts:
- 20% individual participation in the chat/forum used in Moodle (4 points)
- 80% written final exam (16 points)

Examinations or Special Assignments

Individual participation in the chat/forum used in Moodle.

Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)

Students with special statute must choose and decide if they want to be evaluated only by final exam (this exam represents 100% in the final classification). They must inform the teacher at the beggining of the semester that they chosse this form of evaluation.

Classification improvement

The improvement of classification is done only for the final exam; the classification obtainde in the forum stills the same.
