Objectives

1. Acquaintance with the biological aspects of human social behavior. Aquisition of skills to analyze human cultures when compared with other non-human primate cultures.
2. Acquaintance with the evolution of the thought on society and social relations and of the most proeminent perspectives to the development of Psychology as a Social Science.
3. Acquaintance with psychosocial research on common constructs and processes.
4. Contact with common methods used to study recurrent and emergent problems in key domains of study and application of Social Sciences. The student should be aware of the problems arising in the research and production of scientific knowledge in Social Sciences.

1. Biology and Society: the ethological bases of human beings as social beings.
- Evolucionary perspectives on social behavior

- Philosophical, socio-political and ideological bases
- Some foreruners of social sciences.

Examinations or Special Assignments

The student should carry out a small field work, write a report and present it in the class. All the phases of the work should be done in groups of 4-5 students. The mark of the field work, which is obligatory, has a 25% weight in the final mark.

Classification improvement

The student may repeat the final exam to improve the final mark. In this case, the classification of the work group is not considered in the final mark.
