The Bachelor’s Degree in Education Sciences is a comprehensive and multidisciplinary training that qualifies students to become specialised professionals in the field of Education. It provides scientific knowledge acquisition on educational processes that involve public of various age groups and in different contexts. It opens up the possibility of working in public bodies or in private and third sector organisations undertaking educational responsibilities.

This Degree is organised around four interrelated components:

1) multidisciplinary theoretical training in Education;

2) training in research and intervention methodologies;

3) theoretical-practical training promoting communicative-relational, reflective and critical skills;

4) contact seminars in professional contexts in the field of education and training.

Job Opportunities

This Degree qualifies you to become an Education Expert; a Social, Educational and Cultural Mediator; or a Pedagogical Coordinator in several different contexts, such as:

• City councils, parishes, local and regional Government entities;
• Schools and Educational Territories of Priority Intervention;
• Youth Houses, Community Centers, Cultural and Sport Associations;
• Professional Training Centers, Centros Qualifica, Private companies.

Objectives

To obtain a Bachelor's Degree, you must have demonstrated, through teaching/learning processes, the possession of knowledge, the ability to apply it, the ability to collect, select and analyse information, the ability to diagnose and intervene in problem solving, the ability to communicate information and learn throughout life.

To this end, the curricular structure is implemented through 5 types of training components:

• a multidisciplinary theoretical training component in Education distributed across several scientific areas with recognized heritage in thinking about education (Education; Psychology; Curriculum; History; Sociology; etc.);
• a training component in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies as well as action research, supporting an investigative and interventionist stance regarding educational problems and phenomena in their various contexts;
• a theoretical-practical component through which seeks to promote general skills of a cognitive and practical nature, involving relational, communication and personal and social development dimensions;
• a contact component with professional practice contexts through which students interact on an ongoing basis with professionals and professional practices in the various areas of professionalization in Educational Sciences: Education, Citizenship and Social Protection; Education in Culture and Leisure Contexts, Adult Education/Training and Local Development; Education and Educational Management;
• a free optional component, from the Education Sciences group, from the first year of the Master's Degree in Psychology or any 1st cycle from the UP.

Work Opportunities

Senior Expert in Education, Youth or Social Action departments in Local Authorities; technical support in establishing public policies; monitoring and promoting projects with schools and other institutions; design and management of training actions for local authority workers; evaluator of actions and projects in the area of ​​Education.

Schools and other pedagogical institutions

Office co-ordination for students and families; socio-educational mediator; support for students’ school careers mediating conflicts in a school context; school management advisor; coordinator of educational projects in various areas (e.g. health promotion, environmental education, etc.); e-learning designer.

Youth Centres, Community Centers, Cultural institutions, Socio-recreational and sports associations

Education Expert responsible for developing socio-educational activities; Cultural mediator in Educational Services of cultural institutions (museums, theaters, libraries, cultural centers and foundations) and in community and artistic projects with different targets (children, young people, adults or elderly people); mediator of pedagogical and sports projects; promotion of Culture and Knowledge.

Professional Training Centers; Centros Qualifica; Private companies

Co-ordinator of Lifelong Learning projects; pedagogical manager in training companies; coordinator of adult education projects and technical-pedagogical monitoring of training and trainees; manager of applications for education and training projects for national and international funding; training actions evaluator.
