Objectives

This curricular unit has as main objective to develop the skills that work psychologists’ need for intervention. In this sense, the aim is that students are able to: 1. Understand and integrate in an approach to a specific situation the key concepts for intervention in work psychology. 2. Understanding the potential of developmental and transformative of the psychologist's work as part of an interdisciplinary approach to the real work. 3. Develop skills of critical analysis and decision making on the methodological and technical resources to the different intervention needs, their strengths and limitations, ethical and social responsibilities at stake.

Learning outcomes and competences

At the end of this UC students should know/be able to:

  1. Understand core concepts and current trends in Work Psychology intervention;
  2. Understand the developmental character and the transformative potential of the work psychologist action in real context;
  3. Develop critical analysis and decision-making skills on technical and methodological resources appropriate to different needs of intervention;
  4. Mobilize the structuring concepts in an interdisciplinary approach to real work;
  5. To plan actions autonomously in the analysis of a concrete work situation;
  6. To evidence ethical thinking and social responsibility in the analysis and concrete intervention.

  1. Analysis of the historical background that characterizes the evolution of concepts and assumptions underlying the analysis and transformation of work.

  2. The centrality of the concept of activity in Work Psychology: the contributions of the clinic of the activity; the ergonomic approach; and, the psychodynamics of the work.

  3. Virtues and challenges of the articulation of research and intervention in Work Psychology with the analysis of real work.

Teaching methods and learning activities

This UC is organized in theoretical and theoretical-practical classes that include: 

- exposure of theoretical frameworks;

- analysis and discussion of texts; 

- presentation and discussion of practical cases;

 - field work with orientation/tutoring.

The following components are considered in the evaluation of the UC: a) classroom presentation of the analysis of a text (in group); b) classroom presentation of practical work on the analysis of a work activity (in group) and delivery of summary sheet; c) Written synthesis of theoretical-methodological reflection.

Eligibility for exams

Classes are subject to verification of attendance. Students who miss more than 25% of predicted classes will not be subject to assessment.

 

Calculation formula of final grade

The following components are considered in the evaluation of the UC:
a) classroom presentation of the analysis of a text (in group);
b) classroom presentation of practical work on the analysis of a work activity (in group) and delivery of summary sheet;
c) Written synthesis of theoretical-methodological reflection.

 

The final classification is obtained by weighting the above listed assessment components: a) 20%, b) 40%, and c) 40%.

Failure to carry out an assessment component will result in a score of 0 on that component with the minimum score required being 8 values on all components. The appeal is restricted to those components which due to their nature are repeatable.

 

Observations

Special situations concerning the evaluation will be discussed with the teaching team at the beginning of the UC.
