Objectives

Understand the main areas of intervention, objectives and methodologies, targeted at different stages of childhood and adolescence, in the management of common health problems and adaptation to illness and rehabilitation. 2. Relate and distinguish the main paradigms of pediatric psychology intervention. 3. Understand the major health problems in childhood and adolescence and understand their psychological implications 4. Apply the developmental principles to the analysis of psychological problems associated with the disease and dysfunction, and to intervention programs 5. Understand, select and outline assessment-intervention methodologies for different problems of adaptation, experiences and treatment in situations of acute and chronic illness. 6. Understand the importance of interventions in educational contexts (school and family) in pediatric psychology and know how to apply the methods of intervention in these contexts 7. To critically evaluate the research literature in this domain

Eligibility for exams

• Classes are compulsory • Mandatory attendance at 75% of classes taught. • Development of a written assignement:
- Developing a proposal of a psychological intervention for a clinical case (which deals with the programmatic content of the UC);
- Presentation and discussion of a case study •-Submitting a written report with the proposed intervention.
The classification in the final examination and the in the written work can not be less than 7, 5 values.

Calculation formula of final grade

The final score is obtained by summing the score of the final exam with a score of work to be done during the semester with the following weighting:

• Final exam: Scale 0 to 20 (50%)
• Oral presentation of the work developed during the semester: Scale 0 to 20 (25%).
• Written work about the work presented orally: Scale 0 to 20 (25%).

 

•  The classification in the final examination and the in the written work cannot be less than 7, 5 values.
• The student will perform the UC to get the minimum total score of 10 values.

Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)

Special cases will be evaluated by a final written exam (100%), covering all the contents of the UC syllabus.

Classification improvement

Classification can be improved only once, by performing a new written examination, up to the time of the final exam periods of the academic year immediately following that in which the student was approved in the UC (and in which the course has provided examination)

Observations

Changes related to the contingencies imposed by the covid-19 pandemic may be introduced.

Considering the operational recommendations for maintaining teaching and non-teaching activities in person, but in the impossibility of guaranteeing the presence of all the teaching activities of the 1st semester of 2020/2021 in the current pandemic context, due to the lack of physical facilities capable of accommodating with security the number of students in this cycle of studies, the TP component of this UC will take place entirely at a distance, with synchronous moments, making use of telematic means.
