Objectives

- Have a full understanding of the theoretical and empirical developments of the nature and meaning of deviant behaviors
- To deepen the theories applied to the comprehension and intervention in different types of deviant behaviors, violence and crime, juvenile delinquency and anti-social behaviours, white-collar and corporate crime, as well as drug use and drug addiction
- To develop reading and intervention competences, mainly the ones referring to the uses of psychology in the fields of justice, forensic psychology, victimology and criminology

Learning outcomes and competences

1. Nature and meaning of deviance. Modern and tradicional perspectives on deviance
2. Conceptual issues related with the notions of deviant behaviour, criminal personality and dangerousness.Psychological theories on crime and interpersonal violence. Trait theories and the notion of criminal personality. Cognitive-behavioural theories.  
3. Prostitution and other forms of sexual work.
4. Juvenile delinquency. White collar and corporate crime.
5. Drug use and addiction. Epidemiology of drug abuse. Psychological research and drug abuse.
6. Contributions of deviant behaviour psychology and psychological intervention for the Justice System, criminal investigation, forensic psychology and social rehabilitation.

Eligibility for exams

The attendence to classes is not mandatory.

Calculation formula of final grade

The final mark (in a 0 to 20 points rating scale) is obtained through the following calculation:
- Two exams (75% weighing)
- Work group (25% weighing)

In each of the evaluation components, the student must obtain a minimum score of 8 points.

For successfully completing the course, students must achieve a final mark of 10.

Examinations or Special Assignments

Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)

In accordance with the regulations of the Faculty, students with specific statutes will be evaluated by the completion of an individual written work replacing the group work done by other students for evaluation of the practical component (25% of the final grade) and undertaking an oral or written exam on what is taught in the course replacing the final exam (75% of final grade). 

Classification improvement

In accordance with the regulations of the Faculty: The attemp to improve the final result will be possible by repeating once the final exam in the subsequent season to that when approval was reached and whenever the UC has exam scheduled. The improvement will only be appliable to 75% of the mark refering to the final exam.

Observations

Considering the operational recommendations for maintaining teaching and non-teaching activities in person, but in the impossibility of guaranteeing the presence of all teaching activities in the first semester of 2020/2021 in the current pandemic context, due to the lack of physical facilities capable of security the number of students in this cycle of studies, theoretical component of this UC will take place entirely at a distance, with synchronous moments, using telematic means.
