Objectives
The course "History and Anthroposociology of Sexuality" aims to develop knowledge, skills and expertise related to the history of sexuality and sexology as a multidisciplinary science of sexualty, as well as knowledge related to anthropological and sociological aspects of sexuality. Students will be able:
- To know the historical and cultural processes related to sexuality
- To acquire knowledge related to the history of sexology as a multidisciplinary science of sexuality.
- To know the the anthropological perspectives about sexuality
- To acquire knowledge about the sociological aspects of sexuality
Learning outcomes and competences
The course uses fundamentally expositive methodologies and critical discussion and reflection, that aim to develop knowledge, skills and expertise about historial, anthropological and sociological aspects of sexuality. Reading and critical discussion of scientific texts (see bibliography) and the development of a written essay and its oral presentation aim to promote skills of scientific research, critical reflection, as well as writing and oral communication.

The programme contents of the course adjust clearly to the proposed learning objectives. The first point addresses the history of sexuality and will be lectured by Júlio Machado Vaz. The second point addresses the social and political movements related to sexuality and will be lectured by Gabriela Moita. The fourth and fifht points address the anthropological and sociological aspects of sexuality and will be lectured by two experts on these subject areas (Miguel Vale de Almeida e Sofia Aboim, respectively). The organization and evaluation will be coordinated by Conceição Nogueira.

Calculation formula of final grade
Sum of the relative grade will be the participation in classes combined with the submission of an individual assignment.
The 20% on participation in classes results from the appreciation of presences as well as participation in classes.
