Students should get to know how it organizes vocational training and adult education that takes place in Portugal, understanding how it works, know how to describe it, insert it into the whole social system and look at it critically; must acquire skills to bring it to the attention of the various actors of vocational training and education and training of adults in a psychological perspective for various problems that arise; must be able to place this intervention vis-à-vis with other actors of vocational training and adult education, cooperating with them in order to improve the respective results, and helping to promote the development of the respective target populations.
Students should acquire competencies to intervene with the various actors in vocational education and training and in adult education, through a psychological perspective.
Students must acquire skills related to the pedagogical and andragogical dimensions, organizational contexts and ethical practices associated with the activity of adult’s trainers.
1. The organization of vocational education and training (VET) and adult education (AE) in Portugal: conceptual framework, context, social, economic, cultural and educational institutions and organizations involved. Typology, levels of administration, central, regional and local level, object, objectives and target populations, international relationships, particularly within the framework of EU.
2. Dimensions of psychological intervention in VET and AE: identification of needs, curriculum development, promotion of access, success, motivation, methodology, assessment, certification and training of trainers.
3. New domains of psychological intervention in VET and AE: recognition and validation of competencies and prior learning, skills assessment methodologies; courses of adult education and training.
4. The intervention vis-à-vis other professionals involved in VET and AE: relations with other professionals in the education/training, relations with administrators, managers, promoters, courses, and community relations.
Teaching methodologies involves the study and discussion about the main themes and subjects of the curricular unit. Exploration of working papers, methodological guides, proposals for action and activities used in the major areas of psychological intervention in vocational education and training and adult education (proceedings for recognition of prior learning training and skills assessment). Contact with professionals and several work contexts (schools, training centers, and training and education courses for adults.

The evaluation of this curriculum unit is based on the realization of a working project. The project, focused on the themes discussed and presented during classes, should be the elaboration of a proposal for work or original research about related topics with de the Psychology of Vocational Training and Adult Education
Students who by law are excused from the verification of conditions of attendance to classes, should carry out the evaluation component identical to the other students: presentation of a work project.
The amelioration of classification is possible through a new project or updating of the work submitted for assessment
