Objectives
The curricular unit Teorias e Fundamentos da Educação emerges as an optional within the Master of Educational Sciences with the aim of creating a space for reflection and debate on the identity and perspectives of Educational Sciences. Especially aimed at students who do not have an educational background in Education, it is intended, with this course, to contribute to the creation of a common language and ownership of basic concepts in science Educational Sciences.

1) Understand education as individual and social phenomenon.
2) To contextualize the educational phenomenon as a social and scientific object.
3) To describe and discuss some of the major current issues in Education.

Teaching methods and learning activities
This course, favoring the learning activities on teaching activities will be developed according to the study circle methodology focusing methods as group work, presentation in the classroom context and debate.

Calculation formula of final grade
- Group work, presented in the context of the classroom, with 40% weighting in the final classification;
- Individual essay, delivered at the end of the semester, with a weighting of 60% in the final classification.
The themes of the works (both group and individual) are negotiated between teachers and students, from the course's content.
NOTE: In the face of possible situations that constitute the practice of fraud, the procedures will be in accordance with Article 14 of the Assessment Regulation of students of FPCEUP where one can read that "the fraud committed in the evaluation imply the annulment of the same and the communication to the statutorily competent body (Pedagogical Council) for possible disciplinary action. Under the FPCEUP, it is understood as fraud copying, plagiarism or any other practice which results in an unlawful benefit for the classification of the student. "
