- Have a full understanding of the theoretical and empirical developments of the nature and meaning of deviant behaviors
- To deepen the theories applied to the comprehension and intervention in different types of deviant behaviors, violence and crime, juvenile delinquency and anti-social behaviours, white-collar and corporate crime, as well as drug use and drug addiction
- To develop reading and intervention competences, mainly the ones referring to the uses of psychology in the fields of justice, forensic psychology, victimology and criminology

1. Nature and meaning of deviance. Modern and tradicional perspectives on deviance
2. Conceptual issues related with the notions of deviant behaviour, criminal personality and dangerousness.
3. Psychological theories on crime and interpersonal violence. Trait theories and the notion of criminal personality. Cognitive-behavioural theories.
4. Juvenile delinquency. White collar and corporate crime.
5. Drug use and addiction. Epidemiology of drug abuse. Psychological research and drug abuse.
6. Contributions of deviant behaviour psychology and psychological intervention for the Justice System, criminal investigation, forensic psychology and social rehabilitation.

Distributed evaluation without final exam. The classification will be the result of the sum of the two exams taking place along the semester (with weight of 70%) and the written individual work (with a weight of 30%).
There will be the possibility of doing an exam for those with no approval in the distributed evalutation.
In accordance with the regulations of the Faculty. In exceptional cases, foreseen by law, or in cases duly justified and accepted by the Faculty’s competent committees, students may be evaluated outside the usual context and foreseen calendar, through a written project (weighing 50% in the final grade) and/or an oral or written test about the topics learned within this unit throughout the semester (weighing 50% in the final grade).
Since the central purpose of this Curricular Unit is to prepare the student to acquire a deepen understanding of the phenomena of deviant behavior, we seek to initially transmit a body of knowledge about concepts and theories research results on deviant behavior, using classes display content, debates about the contents exposed and group work.
