Objectives

In the end of this course the students should be able to: > Understand and explain the principles of neural dynamics that support neuropsychological rehabilitation, and to justify it using clinical evidence. > Describe the fundamentals of neuropsychological rehabilitation. > Plan and implement rehabilitation programs, selecting and applying diverse strategies that conform to the clinical and individual requirements. > Adopt an holistic frame of reference, and attending also to the context. > Monitor and adjusting the rehabilitation programs according to the evaluation of results.

I. Conceptual issues 1.1. Cerebral lesion and theories of rehabilitation. 1.2. Principles and practices of neuropsychological rehabilitation. 1.3. Holistic perspectives of rehabilitation. 1.4. Planning of rehabilitation programs adjusted to the disorder, the individual needs and the desired outcomes. II. Practical issues 2.1. Rehabilitation of cognitive functions: attention, memory, executive functions, language and communication. 2.2. Rehabilitation of special groups: children, elderly, TBI, schizophrenia. 2.3. Eligibility for exams

The approval requires to attend a minimum of 75% of the classes.

Calculation formula of final grade

The evaluation of the course is based on two components: a) presentation in class (groups of 3 students) of a recension of strategies and materials for rehabilitation or a clinical case - two points for the final classification; b) two short tests of 4 questions each, one at the end of each module, ranked 0 to 20. The minimum grade ifor approval is 8.0 in each of the tests. The final grade will correspond to the average obtained in both tests weighted by 90%, plus the 2 points of the presentation in class. Students who do not pass through the regular evaluation, will have access to an appeal exam which classification will replace the ones previously obtained or their absence.

Examinations or Special Assignments

Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)

Students who have jobs and other students whith similar statutes are not obliged to attend classes, but they are required to comply with the assessment regime that is applicable to other students. A justification for their presence in the evaluations will be provided and, if necessary, dates and times of evaluation can be agreed accordingly with the working schedules.

The improvement of the grade involves new registration in the course.
