Alexandra Oliveira is a professor in the Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, University of Porto. She teaches several courses on the Psychology of Justice and Deviant Behaviour in the undergraduate Psychology program and the Master's in Psychology. She also lectures in the Doctoral Programme in Human Sexuality and the Master's in Sexology.

She completed her PhD in Psychology at the University of Porto in 2008, with ethnographic research on street-based sex workers. Although she is a recognised expert on sex work, her research interests more broadly encompass gender, sexuality, deviance, and social reaction, including stigma and social justice. She is an Integrated Member of the Centre for Psychology at the University of Porto. From 2013 to 2017, she was a member of the Management Committee of COST Action IS1209, Comparing European Prostitution Policies: Understanding Scales and Cultures of Governance.

She has received three honourable mentions for her academic work and has published three books (one co-authored) and numerous national and international journal articles and book chapters.
