Objectives
The UC aims to provide students with knowledge that will allow them to:
- list the general and specific morphological characteristics of the permanent teeth of the posterior group and the deciduous teeth,
- list the morphological and histological differences between the two dentitions,
- identify the teeth of the deciduous and permanent dentitions.
- understand and describe the eruptive process,
- know the chronology of eruption of deciduous and permanent teeth,
- describe the main dental anomalies.
- describe the process of embryonic development of the head, face, orofacial mass and structures of the oral cavity, namely the teeth.
Students must be able to develop projects on the topics taught.
Learning outcomes and competences
Students should develop skills and abilities to identify and sculpt permanent posterior teeth as well as to describe the main stages of embryonic development of teeth and dental and paradental tissues.
They must simultaneously develop a critical view of the topics taught and understand the importance of obtaining this knowledge for their clinical practice.
It is also intended that, with this knowledge, students can better understand the etiology of dental pathologies as well as establish the best treatment plans.
Working method
Presencial
Pre-requirements (prior knowledge) and co-requirements (common knowledge)
Students should have knowledge of anatomy, cell biology and general embryology. preferably, They must have, preferably, been approved by UC AHO I.

Teaching methods and learning activities
Theoretical and theoretical-practical classes - modified expository model with presentation of oral morphology and oral embryology topics, encouraging active participation of students individually and in groups.
Practical classes - Application of knowledge acquired in theoretical and theoretical-practical classes with the creation of morphology and embryology sheets and dental sculptures, in wax, using subtraction and addition methods.
Use of a virtual learning environment implemented through the use of the Moodle platform.

Eligibility for exams
Minimum of 75% attendance in theoretical-practical and practical classes.
Calculation formula of final grade
Theoretical assessment (A) obtained by taking an exam at the end of the semester focusing on the material taught during the semester. Grade with a weighting of 50% in the final classification.
Practical assessment:
Practical exam (B) of the gymkhana type carried out at the end of each semester focusing on the material taught in the semester. Grade with a weighting of 50% in the classification of this practical component.
Continuous assessment (C) obtained by carrying out practical work in a classroom environment. Grade with a weighting of 50% in the classification of this practical component.
The final grade is the result of applying the following formula:
(((B + C)/2)/2) + (A/2)
Minimum score in each of the assessment components, theoretical and practical, of nine point zero points out of twenty.
Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)
Student-worker - assessment based on a written, theoretical (A) and practical (B) exam on the subject taught during the semester without continuous assessment.
Final grade calculation formula:
A/2 + B/2
Classification improvement
In the same academic year, by taking a written, theoretical and practical exam on the subject taught in the semester, maintaining the grade from the continuous practical assessment, whenever applicable.
In the immediately following academic year, by taking a written, theoretical and practical exam on the subject taught during the semester, without a continuous practical assessment grade.
