Objectives

Teaching includes clinical instruction in the prevention, diagnosis and management of potentially malignant and malignant lesions and conditions of the oral mucosa.
The course integrates oral pathology and oral microbiology with pathology and medical microbiology. Initially, the processes underlying the common oral diseases and methods of their diagnosis, prevention and management it is described. The teaching continue through the clinical course and the full range of oral and dental with particular attention being given to potentially malignant and malignant lesions and conditions of the oral mucosa.

Students will be able to:
̶ Successfully treat common painful and resistant orofacial conditions;
Develop skills in the use of devices and techniques that aid in the diagnosis and management of patients mucosal disorders, ulcerative conditions, lesions of colour and oral cancer.

Learning outcomes and competences

Students will acquire theoric knowledge that allows them to be able to diagnose and treat oral diseases.

Calculation formula of final grade

Final mark from 0 to 20 points = (Theoretical test x 0,8) + (average of all practical work + continuous evaluation mark)x 0,1) + (class attendance x 0,1)

Minimum of 10 points must be achievd for approval. Although a minimum of 9,0 points (in 20) is required in either theoretical and practical evaluation.

Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)

In order to be approved, the students need the theoretical and practical component. Those students whose statute allows them a special evaluation regime may be evaluated apart from the regular calendar.
