">This course for its specificity is eminently practical and intends to continue the learning of the clinical practice performed by the students of the 4th and 5th years of the Integrated Master in Dental Medicine of the Faculty of Dental Medicine of the University of Porto. ">Goals: ">- Ensure adequate knowledge of the basic Oral Surgery Sciences and a well-founded understanding of scientific methods, the evaluation of scientifically established information and the analysis of data on the best diagnostic and therapeutic procedures from an Evidence-Based Medicine perspective. ">- Provide adequate and acquired clinical experience under supervision, conveniently prepared for the development of skills that allow to carry out precise techniques of prevention and therapeutics of the pathologies and anomalies related to the science of Oral Surgery. ">- Ensure competences related to the methodology of scientific research with data analysis, problem solving and therapeutic planning, as well as communication and presentation of the work in multidisciplinary teams. ">- Know how to apply knowledge and problem solving in new situations in broad and multidisciplinary contexts. ">- Ability to understand the patient as a whole, as well as the absolute and relative indications and contraindications of the various therapeutic procedures. - Creating conditions for lifelong learning in a fundamentally self-oriented or autonomous way.

">It is intended with this ongoing training course to provide students in the 4th and 5th years of the Integrated Master in Dental Medicine the eminently practical exercise of the skills acquired in an environment supervised by teachers of the various clinical areas of Dentistry. ">The tutorial supervision will allow the student of this course not only to improve his basic clinical practice, but also the discussion and the proper orientation and clarification for the resolution of more particular or complex clinical cases. ">This type of clinic exercise will allow the student of Dental Medicine a more rapid evolution and maturation of their clinical competences. ">At the end of the course the student must acquire not only specific skills in the diagnosis of the different pathologies related to the area of oral surgery, as well as a complete mastery of the surgical techniques that allow their treatment. All teaching will be carried out according to the criteria of "Evidence Based Medicine", thus allowing not only a current critical analysis of the diagnostic and therapeutic procedures taught, but also provide the student with weapons that will allow him in the future to adapt his practice to the ">Evolution of concepts. ">- Provide the appropriate knowledge of the sciences related to oral rehabilitation, namely Removable Prosthesis and Fixed Prosthesis on teeth and implants and Orofacial Occlusion and Pain; ">- Ensure adequate clinical experience, acquired under competent supervision; ">- Promote competences related to therapeutic planning, multidisciplinary teamwork and scientific research methodology; ">- Stimulate a scientific mindset that develops independent thinking and critical thinking. ">The student should be competent in the diagnosis and treatment of oral rehabilitation situations, ie specifying: ">- To be competent in the acquisition of sound scientific knowledge, which allows not only a theoretical support for its clinical application, but also the accomplishment of a complex and complete diagnosis and rehabilitation planning; ">- To have knowledge of the laboratory procedures used for the preparation of unitary and bridge restorations, of acrylic and skeletal, muco, dento or implanto-supported prostheses; ">- Be aware of new technologies related to Prosthodontics; ">- Be competent in the development of psychomotor skills and aesthetic sensibility; - To be competent to solve, in clinical practice, autonomously the oral rehabilitation with: Removable acrylic and skeletal prostheses muco, dento and implant-supported; Dento and implant-supported single and dento-restorations; Complex oral rehabilitation (fixed, removable or combined rehabilitation of all dental arches, with or without implant support, significant changes in vertical and aesthetic dimensions, oro-facial pain of dental origin and TMJ disorders.
