Objectives
The aim of the Course Unit Occlusion, TMJ and Orofacial Pain II is to give students the basic knowledge of orofacial pain, as well as the ability to make differential diagnosis with other diseases with overlapping signs and symptoms. In addition, we intend to address the different treatment options of temporomandibular disorders.
Students must develop skills to plan a semi-adjustable articulator and fabricate an occlusal stabilization splint.

Teaching methods and learning activities
Teaching of the Course of Occlusion, TMJ and Orofacial Pain II is split into interactive theoretical and practical lessons. These lessons, using the media, pretend, as intended,to transmit information, facilitate understanding and interpretation of literature and kindle motivation.
Evaluation Type
Distributed evaluation without final exam
Eligibility for exams
- Presence in 75% of classes;
- Laboratory work: assembling individualized models in semi-adjustable articulator + making occlusal stabilization splint;
- Final report of the activity developed in theoretical and practical laboratory classes;
Students covered by special laws that dispense with the presence in the classroom, will undertake a written test and an oral test, where the skills will be evaluated for approval to the Course.
Calculation formula of final grade
Discontinuous assessment - 45% (2 written tests - minimum score: 7.0 points)
Continuous assessment - 45% (laboratory work, final report)
Attendance - 10%
Examinations or Special Assignments
Not being mandatory, students who wish to, can do research work within the curriculum, which will be considered in discontinuous assessment.

Observations
Final report: should feature the procedures carried out in the lessons of laboratory work, properly sequenced, described and documented photographically (minimum quality).
Optional research papers: they must take the form of a scientific paper, poster or free communication.
