Objectives

-acquisition of scientific basis in complete denture prosthetic care;
-comprehensive diagnosis and treatment planning for edentulous patients;
-initial training in clinical and laboratory procedures related to treatment of edentulous patients.

Program

Theoretical sessions cover the following topics:
characteristics an evaluation of edentulous patients; anatomy of maxillary and mandibular supporting and peripheral structures; pre-prosthetic treatment; principles and objectives of impressions for complete dentures; maxillomandibular relations and concepts of occlusion; record bases and occlusion rims; transference of maxillomandibular relationships to the articulator; selection and arrangement of anterior teeth; selection and arrangement of posterior teeth; oclusal schemes for complete dentures; the trial denture and the try-in appointment; wax contouring and processing of dentures; denture insertion – treatment at the time of denture insertion; post insertion examination and treatment; reline and rebase procedures; repairs; immediate dentures; overdentures.
Practical sessions:
preliminary impressions; preliminary casts impressions; special trays; baseplates and occlusion rims; arbitrary mounting of the casts on a class II articulator; arrangement and articulation of artificial teeth; anterior teeth arrangement for esthetics; arrangement of anatomic posterior teeth to a balanced articulation; wax-up, flasking and denture processing; finishing and polishing procedures.
Seminars:
diagnosis and treatment planning for edentulous patient; support, retention, and stability in complete dentures; occlusion for the edentulous patients; treatment of problems associated with denture use.
