Objectives

Tgis course has a practical and applied orientation that aims to deepen the knowledge (theoretical, technical and/or instrumental) addressed during the second semester of the master programme.

Learning outcomes and competences

As a result of the frequency of this course, it is expected that students will develop the ability to structure the analysis of, and propose solutions for, case studies in Finance. Additionally, it is hoped that studenys will create of deepen competencies in the exposure, as well as oral and written discussion os financial issues and problems, using for that purpose a suitable set of financial theories, concepots and instruments deemed adequate for each case.

Teaching methods and learning activities

The method of this course is the case study. All students are asked to make in class presentations of real world cases previously given to them. The class is organized into working teams of three. Each group is asked to study a specific real world operation, present it to the class and submit a writen report about it.

Eligibility for exams

Student assessment in this course is strictly made on a continuous bassis with due regard for (a) the shown abilty to analyse case studies, (b) the capacity to propose and justify solutions for financial problems and (c) the ability to present and discuss both orally and in a written manner the conclusions from the case study analyses and respective proposed solutions.

Calculation formula of final grade

75% Case study analysis (on the basis of written final reports)

25% Oral Presentation and discussion of case studies

This course does not offer the option of a final exam.
