Ana Paula Serra is Assistant Professor at the School of Economics and Management of the University of Porto (FEP).
She is affiliated with CEFUP as full researcher.
She was vice-dean at FEP (2015-2017).
She was vice-dean of and head of Executive Education at Porto Business School (2009-2015).
She taught undergraduate and graduate courses in corporate finance, international finance, investments and capital budgeting since 1989. She was director of the MSc. in Business Studies and the MSc. in Finance.
She taught and was responsible for several executive programs at Porto Business School (namely the Financial Analysis, Real Estate Management and Project Management post-graduate programs) since 2001.
Ana Paula Serra graduated with a degree in Economics from Faculdade de Economia do Porto (University of Porto) and earned her MBA at ISEE (now Porto Business School). She received a PhD in Financial Economics from London Business School in 1999. Her first research area was International Asset Pricing in Emerging Markets. More recently, her studies concentrate on Information and Stock Markets, Financial Markets, Mutual Funds, Portfolio Management, Banking and Real Estate Finance.
Outside the academic world, she is chair of the board of SGFP Banco de Portugal, non-executive board member of EDP Renováveis and member of the Statutory Audit Board of INESC-TEC.
Previously, she was member of the Board of Banco de Portugal (2017-2022), overseing Prudential Supervision, Risk Management and Control, Statistics and HR. From 2019 to 2022, she was member of the Supervisory Board (ECB) and the Board of Supervisors (EBA). She was full member of National Council of Portuguese Supervisors and she was Banco de Portugal representative in the Portuguese Statistical Council (2019-2022).
She was member of the Audit Board at Banco de Portugal (2014-2017).
Previously she was a board member at the Audit Committee of BPI where she also worked for four years (controller, research analyst and portfolio manager).
She has consulted for several private corporations and public institutions in asset management, capital budgeting and funding, among others.
She was member of several Advisory Boards and Monitoring Committees of public institutions.
