Cycles of Study/Courses
Objectives
The course aims to supply students with the techniques of exploratory statistical and probabilistic analysis.
In this way, from an exploratory point of view, the student will learn description approaches of a sample with one or two variables. The course also aims to give the students the necessary tools for a probabilistic approach, that is to say, the analysis of the population from the results obtained in the sample. With this objective, probability theory, random variables and random vectors are studied.
Program
I. Introduction to Statistics: Population and sample. Relationship between statistics
and probability theory. Descriptive statistics and inductive statistics.
II. Descriptive statistics:
1. Unidimensional sample: elementary treatment of discrete data samples and classified data.
2. Bidimensional samples: simple linear regression, correlation.
III. Probability Theory:
1. Probability axiomatic; Probabilities calculation;
2. Random variables;
3. Random vectors;
