This course aims to offer an integrated view on creativity as a systemic capacity, creative processes, knowledge creation and innovation in organisations; the organisational practices involved in these processes; and the change required for its realisation.
It is intended that at the end of the course students are able to:
- Identify the main concepts of Creativity;
- Relate Creativity and Organisational Change;
- Differentiate the ways of thinking in innovation processes;
- Critically appreciate creative process models;
- Apply some creative thinking techniques collaboratively;
- Understand the factors that block organisational creativity and change;
- Analyse the dynamics of organisational processes aimed at enhancing creativity and innovation;
- Effectively frame existing creative potential in organisations;
- Propose intervention practices to encourage change through creativity.
The topics in this program are for thematic guidance but will not be covered in their numerical sequence.
The full list of readings will be provided in the first lecture. In addition, specific articles regarding the theme of each lecture will be provided.
The teaching method of this course is based on the constructivist perspective of learning. In addition to the presentation of the theoretical elements, there will be critical readings and debates, case analysis and group exercises. The lecturer will essentially function as a facilitator in the teaching-learning process, programming, guiding, providing resources, proposing bibliography and moderating the different activities pursued by the students. In the practical parts of the course, methods from Creative Problem Solving and Design Thinking will be used to facilitate the acquisition of knowledge and experimentation with new techniques in groups. Since one of the fundamental themes of course is change, students will be confronted with changes in the didactic and methodological approach. They will be encouraged to think critically and creatively.

Distributed assessment requires attending at least 3/4 of the classes. Those who do not meet this requirement should take the final exam.
a) DISTRIBUTED ASSESSMENT: Exam (50%) + 2 Group assignments (50%)
- the exam must be taken at época normal. Those who miss that exam, or do not hand it in, must take the final exam at época de recurso, in which case the marks obtained in the assignments will not be considered.
- there will be 2 group assignments. Each group has 4 members and remains the same for both assignments.
- the minimum mark in the exam and in each assignment is 8/20. A mark below in any of these implies a fail, regardless of the global average mark obtained.
b) FINAL EXAM (época de recurso only): 100%
By final exam at época de recurso.
