The purpose of the course is to help students understand the mechanisms that preside over the functioning of labour markets. By the end of the course, students should be able to characterize the Portugues labour market against the background of European labour markets and discuss the impact of labour market policies. The economic foundations of human resources management practices are also highlighted.

For those students choosing continuous assessment, attendance of lectures is required (minimum 2/3)
Countinuous assesment consists of 2 partial examinations (each one corresponding to 30% of the final grade) and one essay presented in class (40% of the final grade). Only by submitting their second test do students commit to this type of assessment.
As alternative, there is a final exam on june 11th, 2014.
