Abstract (EN): The results of multidisciplinary studies concerning the Po¿co Quente thermal (T_e7¿22.9°C) spring waters, located at the Granj¿ao-Caldas do Moledo sector (Peso da ¿egua, Northern Portugal), are presented. The hydrogeological and geotectonic studies indicate that the location of Po¿co Quente spring is mainly conditioned by the local structural geology features of the aquifer system. The main features of the local geotectonic framework are the geologic boundary between the Schist-Greywacke Complex metasedimentary rocks and the Cidadelhe granite and, additionally, the intersection of NW-SE, NNE-SSW and E-W structural discontinuities, related to the Vigo-¿egua shear zone, to the ¿egua-Verin fault zone and to the Douro fault, respectively. Hydrogeochemical and isotopic (18O, 2H and 3H) analysis were used to investigate the inter-relation between the Po¿co Quente thermal waters and the Caldas do Moledo hydromineral system. When compared with Caldas do Moledo thermomineral waters, the heavier isotopic composition of Po¿co Quente thermal spring waters, strongly controlled by the altitude effect, indicate that we are in the presence of a locally recharged hydrogeological circulation system, with no connection with Caldas do Moledo geothermal system. Cl, ¿18O and ¿2H values of Po¿co Quente thermal waters indicate that these waters should not be faced as the result of a mixing process between deep thermomineral waters (of Caldas do Moledo type) and local meteoric waters. The results obtained are extremely important for the sustainable management of the hydromineral and geothermal resources of the Granj¿ao-Caldas do Moledo sector.
