Abstract (EN): Hand grip strength is the most used muscle function indicator for clinical purposes. The BodyGrip system, trademark Gripwise, is a novel patented cloud-based embedded system and a promising tool for assessment/prevention, rehabilitation, screening and occupational therapy, opening interesting new possibilities. This work pretends to shortly describe a novel embedded system for hand grip evaluation, offering many new capabilities, good characteristics, the potentiality of contributing for sharing data storage in the cloud, patented, under technology transfer and validated by the new findings accepted in the community. The Gripwise digital dynamometer system is a Class I Medical Device with a resolution of 1N capable to assess the strength profile with an acquisition rate of 100 samples/second. Several pilot studies were carried on in order to validate the device. Currently, other are on track. Some insights on the novel system together with a set of studies¿ syntheses may show its potential. The Gripwise system has already different accessories making it a multifunction solution for different muscle groups assessment. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
