Summary: |
Development of an energy efficient multifunctional exterior wall solution, with environmental sustainability concerns, having as main constituents: - Masonry wall / support, whose development was focused on a new thermal block made with lightweight concrete and having a thermal and mechanical optimized geometry; - Exterior coating, whose development was focused on a thermal mortar with innovative insulating properties.
The main activities of the project were: - Preliminary studies and survey of existing wall solutions on the market; - Defined requirements and specifications for the new wall solution; - Development of the wall solution, involving numerical simulations, laboratory tests and preliminary industrial productions; - Experimental validation campaign, involving tests in laboratory and on semi real scale models; - Promotion/dissemination of results through scientific publications in journal and conferences.
Results/Impacts:
- Development of a new vertical perforated block, thermally and mechanically optimized, made with LWconcrete with expanded clay aggregates; - Development of an external super-insulating thermal mortar (SIM) made with synthetic resins and aerogel aggregates; - The new thermal block and external thermal mortar can produce single leaf external walls with improved thermal and mechanical resistance, and improved watertightness, therefore contributing to the energy efficiency and sustainability of buildings. |

(PT): - Desenvolvimento de um novo bloco de furação vertical termicamente e mecanicamente melhorado, constituído por betão leve com agregados de argila expandida;
- Desenvolvimento de um reboco térmico exterior super-isolante constituído por resinas sintéticas e agregados de aerogel;
- O novo bloco e reboco exterior permitem realizar paredes exteriores com resistência térmica, mecânica e estanquidade à água melhoradas, contribuindo para a eficiência energética e sustentabilidade dos edifícios.
