Personal Presentation

Samuel Moreira holds a PhD (2022), a Master's degree (2013) and a Bachelor's degree (2011) in Criminology.

His PhD research project (focused on private security) was awarded with a doctoral scholarship from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (Scholarship Reference: SFRH/BD/130590/2017).

He is a Professor at the University of Porto (School of Criminology, Faculty of Law) and at the University Lusíada-North (Faculty of Law) and a Researcher affiliated with the research centers CJS and CEJEA.

His academic work has been mainly in the areas of security and policing, and his current research interests focus upon security governance, plural policing, police, private security, urban security, and cybercrime.

He has been presenting his research to several international audiences, and published four articles in leading journals and five book chapters.
