Applications for the Master’s Programmes

Applications must either be handed in in the Postgraduate Studies Department of this faculty or sent by post to the following address: Secção de Pós-Graduação

The application fee may be paid either by cheque or by money order to the order of FCUP Treasury.

The following documents must accompany the application:

• Letter of application addressed to the Chairman of the Scientific Board requesting the student’s acceptance
• Application form
• and ficha académica or certidão de licenciatura and a certidão de aprovação em unidades curriculares In the instance that a completed first cycle university degree is not required as a minimum requirement, the applicant may turn in the certidão de aprovação em unidades curriculares indicating his/her respective credits
• Curriculum Vitae
• Photocopy of Identity Document
• Photocopy of Tax Identification Card (or equivalent document)
• Other documents judged necessary for evaluating the application

Some courses may request further documentation, such as in the case of the Master’s in Landscape Architecture which requires a portfolio.


Note 1: Students of the UP are not required to turn in documents attesting to their academic qualifications, nor any certidões de aprovação em unidades curriculares.

Note 2: An application fee of 55¤ has been established by the UP Fee Schedule.

Master’s Programme Enrolment

Any candidate admitted to the Master’s Programme whose ranking is within the numerus clausus should enrol in the Postgraduate Department of the Science Faculty. The following documents are required:

• 1 passport-type colour photo
• Up-to-date Vaccination Record

In those cases in which the number of vacancies has not been filled, a secondary enrolment will occur during the three working days following the final deadline, in accordance with the following procedure:

• During this period, the Postgraduate Department will accept a conditional enrolment of any applicant on the list of selected candidates previously approved by the Scientific Board.
• At the end of this period, the conditional enrolment become definite, on the condition that the number of successful applicants not surpass the pre-established limits and taking into consideration the rankings established by the Scientific Board.

Matrículas Mestrados 2012/2013 1ª fase NB: No student will be informed of his/her ranking in the selection process directly. The ranking list, approved by the Scientific Board of the Faculty, will be posted in showcases in the Postgraduate Studies Department and published on the Internet together with any other information specific to each Master’s programme.
