Suitable for English-speaking students

Objectives

To develop the student’s skills for experimental work. This will be achieved through the accomplishment of physical chemistry experiments involving the determination of thermodynamic and kinetics parameters, analysis and interpretation of results and scientific reports writing and oral presentations.

Learning outcomes and competences

Develop skills in the use of various physico-chemical methodologies. To provide knowledge consolidation through the execution of laboratory experiments in the area of physical chemistry, related to topics covered in the Physical Chemistry course (Q223).

Working method

Presencial

CLASSROOM ORGANIZATION

Part A. (60% effort)

Laboratory work and demonstrations carried out in groups according to the lesson planning available on the Moodle platform.

The experimental results, calculations and discussion of results will be done partially in the course of the classes and completed by the group outside the class.
On dates indicated in the planning of the lessons (Moodle) presented and discussed orally the results and conclusions of home one of the practical work / demonstration.

Part B. (40% effort)

Participation in the proposed projects, discussion presentation of the results obtained. Participation in the Fair of Experimental Physical Chemistry

The experimental results, calculations and discussion of results will be done partially in the course of the classes and completed by the group outside the class.
On dates indicated in the planning of the lessons (Moodle) presented and discussed orally the results and conclusions of home one of the practical work / demonstration.

Trabalho laboratorial 60,00
Total: 100,00

Eligibility for exams

Presence and participation in 3/4 of the practical work / demonstrations scheduled for the CU.

Calculation formula of final grade

NLAB is the overall laboratory mark equal to the average of the laboratory marks obtained on the laboratory practical sessions.

NA1 and NA2 are the marks obtained on the written reports and oral presentations 1 and 2.

NAF is the mark obtained on the final written report and oral presentation.

The final mark (NF) is calculated according to:

NF = 0.40 NLAB + 0.10 NA1 + 0.10 NA2 + 0.40 NAF
