Objectives
Provide a first contact with research to students by engaging them in a non trivial task normaly associated with research topics within projects lead by our faculty.

Pre-requirements (prior knowledge) and co-requirements (common knowledge)
Only the students with an average mark higher or equal to 13 (after rounding to units) in the courses already conluded can enroll in this particular course.
Program
The syllabus proposed consists on the description of a task whose difficulty is appropriate to the preparation level of the students, and that normally requires search and reading of new bibliography. The proposal is validated by the coordinator of this course.
The work developed is to be presented as a short paper, about 6 pages in size, and also to be presented publicly.

Teaching methods and learning activities
The students will meet their advisers regularly during the semester to discuss their progress and to obtain further guidance. Their activities will include paper reading, learning new concepts, possibly writing some code, write a report and write a presentation.

Calculation formula of final grade
Student assement takes into account the written report and the oral presentation. The final mark is obtained by combining the appreciation of the advisor and the coordinator of this course, with the following weights:
