Objectives

Provide the student experience in the use, administration and programming of some of the systems / applications currently used in the Windows environment. The particular focus is on the programming environment of Visual Basic for Applications.

Learning outcomes and competences

Know how to develop programs that use MS Excel.
Know how to develop programs that use MS Access.
Create systems capable of integrating these two above mentioned tools.
To know programming environents for rapid development of applications.

Presencial

Pre-requirements (prior knowledge) and co-requirements (common knowledge)

Frequency of an initial course on programming, preferably an imperative language.

Microsoft Excel: Working environment. Data types. Format data. Documenting data. Referencing cells. Formulas. Operators. Functions. Soma automatic and automatic calculation.
Microsoft Access: Fundamentals database. Work environment. Tables. Types and properties of the data. Referential integrity. Relationships and associations. Queries. Query types. Forms and sub-forms. Controls. Types of controls. Reports, sub-reports and sections. Macros. Security.
Visual Basic for Applications (VBA): Variables. Operators. Procedures. Arguments. Arrays. Decision-making structures. Cycles. Basic functions. Objects. VBA and Excel. Objects Workbook, Worksheet and Range. VBA and Access. DoCmd object, Form, Report, and Control. ActiveX Data Objects (ADO). Objects Connection, Command and Recordset. Error handling. Collections. Eligibility for exams

Completing all practical work; minimum score of 4 out of 12 on the exam; not more than 7 misses to theoretical lectures.

Calculation formula of final grade

Sum of all parts: coursework 1 (4 points), coursework2 (4 points), final exam (12 points).

This gives a maximum of 20 points, which are converted to the correspondent scale.

Coursework1 (Excel-VB). Coursework2 (Access-VBA).

Classification improvement

Improvements to the final grade can only be made by a resit for the exam.
