Objectives

This course will cover the Telemedicine and eHealth systems. It will dwell on the technologies, cost/benefit analysis, security and standartization initiatives for implementation of these systems.

Learning outcomes and competences

The student will be introduced to several telemedicine and eHealth systems as to the technologies associated to their implementation. Namely, they should acquire general knowledge on communication networks. The point of view of a cost/benefit analysis and the legal issues associated with the implementation of these systems should also be part of the knowledge acquired.

Teaching methods and learning activities

The course will be comprised of 7 lectures of 4 hours, where the program's subjects will be presented. In some cases invited speakers will present their work related with the course content.

As course work a review of the literature on a topic related to the course will done.
