Objectives

Aims:

- Students shoud aquire knowledge about the various families of organic molecules in what concerns their nomenclature, reactivity, reaction mechanisms and methods of synthesis.

- Show the importance of organic chemistry in the development of some areas of modern biology, medicine, in synthesis of novel products and novel materials.

Learning outcomes and competences

Students should understand the relationship between structure and reactivity of organic molecules and be able to predict reactions of the different families of compounds.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Theoretical lessons will be presented in Power-point. Slides will be provided to the students in advance.

TP lessons: resolution of problems featuring the topics of the theoretical lessons.

Students shoud participate actively in the lessons. Therefore, the teacher will exemplify the resolution of the exercises and then the students will resolve the remaining exercises by themselves, in place and in the blackboard, beeing evaluated for their performance.

There may be some homework to do for the next lessons, students will be evaluated in this item too.

Evaluation Type

Distributed evaluation with final exam

Eligibility for exams

TP lessons: Attendance is mandatory for this unit.

Realization of 3 tests, 30 % of final mark, no minimum grade.

Final exam, 70 %, ≥ 9,5

NF = (F1+F2+F3) * 0,3 + NE * 0,7

To be approved FM must be ≥ 9,5.

Calculation formula of final grade

Realization of 3 tests, 30 % of final mark, no minimum grade.

Final exam, 70 %, ≥ 9,5

The final mark is determined as follows:

Final Mark = (F1+F2+F3) * 0,3 + NE * 0,7

To be approved FM must be ≥ 9,5.
