Summary: Construction sites are dynamic and complex environments, making them difficult to control and monitor. Construction safety prevents people from dying or becoming incapacitated. It is a socially relevant issue that persists despite several initiatives. It is also an economic problem that costs about 4% of the world PIB. Also, it is not acceptable in the XXI century for a worker to die while working. Challenges are especially significant for new and illiterate workers due to lack of training. Injuries and accidents occur because there is no proper preparation for workers. Each construction site is different from any other, therefore it is necessary to train technicians, workers and engineers to the exclusive and potential risks that may arise from each new environment. To cope with the pressure of avoiding accidents development, safety can no longer rely on traditional accident preventions measures.
CSETIR (Construction Safety with Education and Training using Immersive Reality) arises from the synergy between higher education institutions and construction company provider to implement the use of smart technologies in proper training. The digital tools allow the creation of instruments that simulate construction scenarios allowing the identification and prevention of risks for teachers, technicians, and engineers.
This proposed project aims at enhancing knowledge exchange between representatives of three sectors to innovate the accident prevention approaches through effective collaboration between researchers in the virtual reality filed and construction companies. CSETIR partnership will develop innovative and interactive VR/AR (Virtual and Augmented Reality) solutions to prevent accidents and train workers. CSETIR intends to create usable tools for teachers, technicians, and engineers that will be used in any construction project. CSETIR also aims at offering training sessions online on an online platform (project website, wiki) to grant learners and trainees a Ver mais. Results: *************PORTUGUÊS********** a) Contribuir indiretamente para incentivar os participantes na área da educação e da formaçao a envolverem-se na segurança da construção; b) O projeto pretende promover o intercâmbio de boas práticas, apoiando o desenvolvimento de métodos de ensino mais variados e de formação personalizada, de acordo com a recomendação da “Comunicação de Bucareste” (Conferência Ministerial-EEES) de 2012 de promoção da 'aprendizagem centrada no aluno' caracterizada por métodos inovadores de formação; c) O desenvolvimento pedagógico do projeto, em conjunto com as atividades, prevê a mobilização de instituições, professores, engenheiros, trabalhadores e técnicos. O projeto de desenvolvimento de ferramentas interativas de aprendizagem e manutenção de um repositório aberto e colaborativo, tutoriais e guias operacionais que auxiliam no desempenho de tarefas específicas; d) Contribuir para o desenvolvimento e aplicação de ferramentas e guias práticos para arquitetos e engenheiros envolvidos nos projetos e obras de construção. ********INGLÊS********** a) Contribute indirectly to encourage VET and HEI students and staff to get involved in construction safety; b) Project intends to promote best practice exchanges, supporting the development of more varied teaching methods and personalized training, in accordance with the 2012 “Bucharest Communication” (Ministerial Conference-EHEA) recommendation of promoting ‘student-centred learning’ characterised by innovative methods of teaching; c) Project pedagogic development, together with its activities, are expected to mobilise institutions, teachers, engineers, workers and technicians. The project interactive learning tools development and maintenance of an open, collaborative repository, tutorials and operational guides that support the performance of specific tasks; d) Contribute towards the development and application of tools and practical guides for architects and engineers involved in construction design.
